Trans-Atlantic Passenger Service
Four modern German-owned container ships offer weekly sailings between the USA and Europe, with calls at Wilmington, NC, and Philadelphia (Chester, Pa), in the USA, at Antwerp for the Continent and Liverpool for the UK. Transit times are based on a service speed of about 18 knots.
Note 1: Passengers are not accepted between December 1 and March 31 due to winter weather.
Note 2: Passengers are accepted by the ships' owners and not by Independent Container Line, who are the charterers. Tickets are issued by the owners in Germany and passengers are governed by owners' terms and conditions, the passage contract being direct with owners.
Note 3: Minimum age is 3 and maximum age is 80.

The INDEPENDENT ACCORD and INDEPENDENT CONCEPT were built in 2007 and each carry two (2) passengers in an Owners Suite. Passengers enjoy air conditioning, a lounge with video and TV monitor, outdoor swimming pool and a gym with table tennis. The latest addition, the INDEPENDENT VOYAGER, was built in 2011 and has just entered service.
The JULIUS S (H Buss, owners) is a larger 2004-built ship that joined the fleet in 2010 and also has passenger accommodation.
