Griffin Maritime Company

                 Marine Consulting & Management Services

Kevin Griffin opened Griffin Maritime in London in 1992 as a marine consultancy specialising in the fields of passenger and cruise shipping as well as the cargo trades between Europe, Canada and the Great Lakes. Griffin is a graduate of Western University in London, Ontario, and a member of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. With twenty-five years experience in liner and bulk shipping, inland transport, marine terminals and business development, he has worked in Europe and North America, holding positions with the Clarke Group (including Dart Containerline and Halterm), Canadian Pacific Limited and Fednav Limited.

Griffin worked on ships of various types while at university and has lectured in shipping at McGill University in Montreal. Born in the UK and a dual British and Canadian national, he is past chairman (1999-2002 and 2010-12) of the Leading Cruise Agents of the UK. Between 2000 and 2012 Griffin represented the Great Lakes Cruising Coalition in Europe and in 2014 he became a founding partner in the Great Northern & Southern Navigation Co LLC, of New Orleans, trading under the name French America Line.

Griffin Maritime represented the Port of Toledo, Ohio, in Europe for many years and has also worked with the Port of Detroit. Promoting centralized Midwest distribution by discharging three ports cargo at one, this saved shipowners fuel and daily hire plus extra port costs. Griffin has participated in a number of North American trade missions to Europe, as well as a European cruise media visit to the St Lawrence River. He has written for Seatrade, Canadian Shipping, Seaports & the Shipping World, Freighter Travel Review, Marine News, Telescope and Cruise magazine, among others, and today writes a weekly column called The Cruise Examiner.
